  • Are you a Right Clicka or an iBook Flippa?: Blog question #6

My opinion on this choice may be biased due to the fact that I have never owned or fully used a Mac before, but I still have some points on that platform. I think the Mac's modern, stunning eye-catching interface is what attracts the buyer the most. Macs are based more on simplicity designs and use, compared to PCs that are seem more traditional. Not only do the interface of the technology equipment catche potential buyers but also the Mac's advertising, which seems to connect more with artists. However, I feel that the price to have good looking technology equipment is quite ridiculous. With the fast pace of technology, users seeking 'good looking technology' would constantly have to keep buying the newest gadget. Sure it may look good, but I feel that PCs can work just as good or even better than Macs. As for PCs, they may not have the same simple sophisticated interface as Macs but it is compatible with more programs than the Mac. But there are many downfalls for PCs such as easily receiving virus at times and the various pop ups, such as the reminders for you to upgrade your PC to the latest Windows version. The war between the Mac and the PC will always continue due to their continuous evolution in upgrading both their looks and software performance. Overall, I prefer the PC as it is better in performance and compatibility with other programs.

Bigthink.com: Conversations about the BIG questions: Blog Question #5

I find that this site is quite issues in some things and really bad in other issues. It is good since I do feel that some people would like to discuss these deep topics such as love, poverty or the environment. In a way this site is used to let people express their opinions on a certain topic which may cause a reader's opinions to change as well in the process. With that this site is also trying to work for a good cause, trying to increase the attention spans of internet surfers. However most internet surfers already have a short attention span so if they do ever come across this site, I highly doubt that that they will attempt to look at this site. As for internet surfers and Youtube, Youtube attracts surfers easily as it offers a wide range of videos which could also include your own personal videos that you could share with other users from around the world. I feel that youths would rather not discuss these topics as we have certainly done many times at school. I agree that we do have short attention spans these days. But it can also be rather hard to express your opinions on the internet to people you don't know of.
Viewing one of these videos is quite difficult since I, for one have a short attention span. Well, I have attempted again and at that time I wasn't even sure if I fully understood what was happening as I had my mind trail off. I feel that this site could help in your education but it can also be quite hard since if you already have a short attention span, it will be hard to fully process all the information in your head.
Overall, my answer is a yes. I feel that this site is for a good cause and with a site like this it could also somehow achieve its goal in expanding short attention spans.

Prepare to be Amazed: When Graphic Artists Get Bored: Blog Question #4

I find that all of these images are all amazingly photoshopped. It's incredible what these artists can do using this program. One particular image I favour the most would be the second one, which is sort of like a mouse with the insides of a kiwi. I find this image quite amusing, as I have analyzed it in a way by figuring out how you can achieve this hybrid image in photoshop, it's quite simple. I would think you would first need to acquire a clear image of a mouse and a clear image of a kiwi sliced. Then you would use the marquee tool to select the part of the middle of the body that you wish to be the sliced, like the kiwi coming outwards (also while creating a new layer), then position it outwards. You may then move the head and the bottom of the mouse apart from the middle sliced kiwi. Then taking the image of the kiwi use the circle marquee tool to select the inside of the kiwi and copy and paste it on the sliced kiwi coming out of the mouse and in front of the bottom kiwi. Then I think that all you have to do is make sure the two images blend well together using eraser, cloning tool, lasso and various others tools that would be helpful.
I feel that even if you're a total newbie in photoshop, you can create something really amazing because it really just depends on the creativity you have and how much you decide to stretch it.

Pirating, Me Maties!: Blog Question #3

With advances in technology, pirating has become one of the most popular ways to view movies or listen to music that has not yet been released or are being sold illegally. It has evolved tremendously on the internet, whether it's downloading movies, music, shows or even pictures. This practice is illegal and yet millions of people continue to do this. It has endangered the entertainment industry, in terms of finance. Now a days you hardly see people go out and buy or rent movies and music, this would be because it is so simple to get what you want to watch or listen with a click of the mouse without any cost.
Many people use programs such as Napster, Bit Torrent and Limewire to download music, movie etc. I'd be a hypocrite if I say that it's wrong to download, but I'm one of those millions of people who uses Limewire to download music free at charge. Everyone knows it is wrong to participate in these acts but we still tend to continue it. Despite the fact that it takes money away from the people within the entertainment industries.
The easy access that enables us to download or buy all these pirated movies, music, shows, etc. is so easy for us to take advantage of to save money and what not. There are a wide range of sources of these pirated items that it can be hard to resist what we can easily have. Many other reasons why people may have downloaded something, particularly a song is because if they ever do buy an album from the store, they only wanted to listen to that one song thus so they are saving money by just downloading. I have to say although it may be wrong to take part in this practice, I still take advantage of it mainly because its free of charge and I could do it in the convenience of my own home.

Walking the Talk: Blog Question #2

An ecological footprint is a calculation that estimates the size of the earth's land and water that is required to supply the resources an individual demands. According to this website, the kind of footprint that I leave on the planet is, "if everyone on the planet lived my lifestyle, we would need: 5.05 Earths." I am quite dumbfounded that we would need that many earths, when we only have one. This site has brought to my realization that I really do need to cut back on my consumption of energy that contributes to my ecological footprint. During the process of doing the survey of finding out my ecological foot's size, it has educated me on what I could do to conserve this energy. Reason being, that due to the questions that are being asked, it provides some kind of information about the questions that are being asked in each section. What I feel I can do to lessen my impact are to follow the questions that are being asked and determined the best options and follow through in a way that would help the environment. I feel that this interactive website in a way is bringing about change for our future, atleast for those who really take the results seriously. Therefore, for those who really take their results seriously and feel that they could improve on decreasing their footprint, they may have contributed little by little which makes some kind of difference in leading others to do the same. If one person chooses to make a difference, put together we can all contribute to improving our environment.

"Halo 3" Be thy Name Blog question #1

Halo 3 has been created as the "first-person shooter game" exclusively for for the Xbox 360. It was released just last year, 2007, and on its first day received a gross of $170 million in retail sales. That was only the first day and yet it was still able to do better than the release of the highly anticipated, "Spider-Man 3" which only received a gross of $151 million at the box office in its opening weekend.
There are people my age that are only movie lovers or only gamers. There are reasons why they choose to be any of them, reason being for a movie lover is that maybe they just prefer to watch a story. Watching a movie will just require you to just sit back, and can either make you feel the suspense, sadness or excitement of the movie. (Depending on the genre of course.) For a gamer, I guess they find it more enjoyable to have a more interactive experience and be 'in' a storyline, or challenge to either get a high score or to complete the whole game. It requires you to get through levels and obstacles to get to the top of which ever type of game you are playing. Both can really be enjoyable for both a group of friends or individually. Although for movies, watching them individually can be boring when you can't share the feeling or insights of the movie with your friends. For gaming, it really can cause you to get addicted and have your eyes glued to the screen the whole time, not having any clue as to what's happening in reality. So really, I feel that the youths are all divided on this due to, their interests and how involved they want to be in a story - to passively watch a movie or interact with characters in a game.
I have to say that I can be both a movie lover and a gamer. I really enjoy watching movies, especially if there is a movie that has really caught my attention. Also, if I just would like to do something relaxing I would rather watch a movie. I can really get addicted to playing game systems such as the only ones I have, my PS2 and especially my DS Lite. I guess I can really get into that mood of "I-MUST-FINISH-THE-GAME" addiction. If I really have to make a choice whether to be a movie lover and a gamer, I would have to say that I am more of gamer. This would be because only really good movies are released once in awhile. You can say the same with games but, movies are usually finished after about an hour or two. Whereas for gamers, depending on the game, it could surely take longer than 2-4 average hours movie, perhaps days or weeks. Video games, once again depending on the game, allow you to actually interact somehow in either completing the game or reaching to get a high score with challenges and difficulty levels that makes it more exciting and fun. I can also really get tired of games, especially if my eyes hurt or I could be doing something more productive, I can easily give it up. But depending on the time, whether if really good movies come out at a certain time. I feel that youth will put down their game controls and be a movie lover, such as I would do. But that's really only once in a while thing. So I am more of a gamer, surprisingly.

    fyi;

Finally fixed my layout. It may say "Reeza's temporary layout" but I highly doubt I'll ever change this layout even if it does look ugly. It would be appreciated if you do not steal anything off my layout, because I practically made everything. (except the patterns+css) pls + ty:)

Okay so here's another RUSHED layout I made a few months back. Edited the css/html from one of the main templates because unfortunately I was too lazy to put together my own. Also created the ugly graphics as you can see on my layout. Sorry its a bit cheesy, I was just experimenting with the codes.
